The Abiotic Factors
Substrate
The movement of the Megathrust Fault under the sea floor changed the composition and depth of the floor in that area.
Water
The earthquake happened in the Indian Ocean, creating the tsunami that followed. This tsunami flooded many areas on the western coast of Indonesia, creating new ponds and lakes.
Light
The changing of the depths of areas in the ocean displace species, putting them in areas with different light levels.
Temperature
Since the light levels for displaced species changed, the temperature of their environment changes.
Salinity
The quake stirred up sea floor substrate, possibly releasing more salts into the water.
